An important challenge in my practice is working outside traditional Western/European landscape tradition. River skin colours, together with water body, create a base palette to underpin fluid and responsive approaches to the Don River site in North West Tasmania. Extensive experimentation with the tensions of blending and layering frottage, photograms, and photographs, has created complex images imbued with a depth of mystery, intimacy, and passion- akin to an exploratory touch, an elemental connection, where parts create a whole.
This suite of images is presented as a river rippling and swirling towards the sea. At times capricious. Constantly open to elemental forces of wind and water. Inviting you to be present in that space where skin and body connect. To be the river, to feel and see its heartbeat.
