An unsettling space to occupy,  this uncanny space occupied by visible and inner self  is where we find we are split, dualled or at odds with ourselves. Personalising this project, I experimented with ideas of self and other through engaging with my body combining drawing, photography, monoprints and etching to work in three broad categories of exploration- body and self, body and other, and body combined with other and self.

Experiencing my body where the non-recognition of  my self  through close observation of my self became a lived paradoxical experience which was not entirely comfortable. This tension was a creative challenge to find ways to reveal my other using hidden and intimate body sites.  The integration of boundaries between self and other creates a sense of strangeness, of disconnect, and of uncertainty which is woven through all images.  My aim has been to develop an eclectic yet cohesive mix giving viewers the opportunity to find personal resonance within the works.
